I watched a movie named Borealis and this gave more desire to go somewhere to see this amazing effect named Northern lights or Aurora Borealis. The Aurora is an incredible light show caused by collisions between electrically charged particles released from the sun that enter the earth’s atmosphere and collide with gases such as oxygen and nitrogen. The lights are seen around the magnetic poles of the northern and southern hemispheres. Auroras that occur in the northern hemisphere are called ‘Aurora Borealis’ or ‘northern lights’ and auroras that occur in the southern hemisphere are called ‘Aurora Australis’ or ‘southern lights’.
Because the phenomena occur near the magnetic poles, getting as close to these poles as possible will rapidly increase the chances of viewing aurora. As the magnetic south pole is in Antarctica, unless your a scientist working there, it usually leaves the northern hemisphere the most sensible option of viewing aurora. It should be mentioned however that during strong solar storms, aurora australis are quite often visible in places south of Australia. But generally speaking, the best places to watch the aurora are usually are North America or Europe.
In North America, the northwestern parts of Canada, particularly the Yukon, Nunavut, Northwest Territories and Alaska are favorable. In Europe, Scandinavia, particularly the Lapland areas of Norway, Sweden and Finland is very good for aurora viewing. Iceland is also a good place for auroras and Auroral displays can also be seen over the southern tip of Greenland.
So, I am not there but in my imagination yes. for this reason, I make a photo alteration to feed my desire. The perfect song for me to represent this moment is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTydwQjSeW0 – The best of Cafe del Mar – compiled by Jose Padilla, my preferred lounge music DJ. This song feeds my soul and cleanses my spirit! Compilation: Cafe Del Mar – The Best Of – Compiled By Jose Padilla (2003)
About the movie:
Borealis, written by Jonas Chernick and directed by Sean Garrity offers a warm-hearted story about Jonah, an unemployed gambler, whose main duty is to get to Churchill, Manitoba to show the Northern Light to his daughter, Aurora before she becomes completely blind. But due to his huge debt to local criminals, Jonah now must do his best to get to his desired destination alive. But that, as usually happens, easy said than done. In conclusion, BOREALIS is a surprisingly sweet film with a few dynamic scenes. It’s main target is to explore a father-daughter relationship at one of the most difficult situations. It shows that family bond is one of the most important thing unless you deny it. Jonah as a father might fail to look after his daughter, but one thing he does better than any father in the world – despite there being only hair’s breadth between him and the Northern Light, he makes the right choice to make his daughter’s dream come true.
